Blueprints (Unreal Engine)

Blueprints are Unreal's visual scripting layer, used by designers and artists to build and iterate on behaviour without a compile step.

Blueprint work is where design and programming meet in an Unreal project. Designers prototype mechanics, artists wire up interactive props, and gameplay programmers expose C++ functionality so that both can work without touching engine code.

Doing it well means knowing the limits: what belongs in C++ because it runs every tick, how to keep a graph readable after the fifth revision, and how blueprint communication, interfaces and data assets keep a project from turning into one unmaintainable graph.

Adverts that ask for Blueprints alone usually mean design or technical art; combined with C++ they mean gameplay programming, where the same feature is written once for performance and once for the designers to tune. Teams that work this way usually expect a candidate to read an existing graph, say where it will break, and move the heavy part down into code instead of adding another node to it.
