Video Editor

A video editor in games cuts trailers, store videos and ad creatives from captured gameplay and existing 3D assets.

The material is a game that already exists. The editor plans the shots, captures in engine or works from footage, and assembles the result for store pages, social channels and paid campaigns. Different cuts of the same scene often go to different platforms.

Beyond an editing suite, the craft needs tools that let somebody stage a scene: Blender, 3ds Max, Unreal blueprints for in-engine sequences, Photoshop for overlays and thumbnails. Knowing what a user acquisition test needs is valuable, because these videos are measured against each other.

The role borders on motion design and on marketing. What marks it out is the game footage itself: the editor has to know where in a build an interesting moment can be produced on demand.
