Video Editing
Video editing in games means cutting trailers, store videos and ad creatives from gameplay capture and in-engine scenes.
The skill turns up in two places. Marketing teams need trailers and short ad formats, and community teams need clips from streams and events. Both start from the same raw material: footage captured out of a running build.
An editing suite is the base, and the surrounding tools are the ones that let somebody stage and render a shot: Blender, 3ds Max, Unreal blueprints and Photoshop for overlays. Knowing how a platform wants its assets, from aspect ratio to length, is part of the craft.
The work ranges from a pure editing role to an artist position where the cut is one deliverable among several, so the depth expected differs a great deal. What stays the same is the starting point: somebody has to get into the build and produce the moment that the cut needs, which is why editing in games is closer to production than to post.
