Art Director

Art directors set the visual language of a game and keep every asset, every artist and every outsourcing partner inside it.

The art director decides what a game looks like and why: colour, shape language, lighting, how far the style sits from realism, and how all of it supports the gameplay. That direction has to survive contact with production, so it is written down in style guides and reference boards rather than kept in one person's head.

The daily work is review and feedback across disciplines — concept, 3D, UI, VFX, lighting — plus the schedule and the quality bar for external partners. Art direction is a leadership role: it includes hiring, mentoring and saying no to work that is good but off-style.

Where a lead artist runs one discipline and a creative director owns the whole product vision, the art director owns the visual result across the game and answers for its consistency.
