Community Manager

Community managers run the conversation between a game and its players: announcements, moderation, events, and carrying feedback back to the development team.

The job works in two directions. Outward it means posts, patch notes and announcements, a content plan, moderation of forums and chat, and holding a tone through a bad patch or an outage. Inward it means turning thousands of reactions into something a team can act on, with evidence attached instead of an impression.

Writing is the core skill, in the language the community actually speaks, and image editing and content creation come with it. So does availability when something breaks, which is why the role is tied to a game's release and event calendar.

The neighbours divide by what they answer. A social media manager owns channels and reach. A player support agent answers individual tickets. An influencer manager works with creators. Community management covers the collective conversation, and on a small team it covers the other three as well.
