Scriptwriting
Scriptwriting covers written material built as a script: cinematics, scenes and trailers, where timing, camera and performance are part of the text.
A script is written to be produced. It carries not only what is said but how long it takes, who is where, and what the camera is doing, which makes it readable by directors, animators and actors as a working document. Economy is the main discipline: a scene that can be told in four lines should not take eight.
In games this extends to material with a fixed running time, such as trailers and marketing pieces, where every second is allocated. Scripts also go to recording sessions and to localisation, so clarity about pronunciation, context and delivery is part of writing them well.
Dialogue Writing is the craft of individual lines a character speaks. Story Writing builds the events underneath. Scriptwriting is the form in which a produced scene is actually delivered.
