Project Manager

Keeps a project moving: plan, scope, dependencies, risks and the reporting that leadership decides on.

Project management in games is the work of making a plan survive contact with production. It means breaking a milestone into tasks and owners, tracking dependencies between art, code and audio, raising risks while they are still cheap, and writing the status that lets leadership choose between scope, date and quality.

Much of the day is coordination between groups that do not share a vocabulary. A good part of it points outward as well: publishers, outsourcing partners, platform certification and marketing beats all land on the same schedule. Postings usually ask for agile practice, for budget and resource planning, and for the tooling that keeps a backlog honest.

A producer or development director carries delivery accountability for a whole title; a project manager runs a project or workstream inside it. A scrum master facilitates one team's process without owning the plan.
