Xbox
Xbox experience in a job ad means shipping and maintaining a build on Microsoft's consoles: platform requirements, certification and the performance budget of the hardware.
Xbox appears as a requirement wherever a title has to run on a console rather than only on PC. What is asked for is rarely the console as a device, but the work around it: building and signing a package with the platform SDK, keeping within fixed memory and frame-time budgets, supporting controller input and the system's own overlays, and handling accounts, saves and achievements through the platform services.
The second half is certification. Microsoft publishes requirements every submitted build has to meet, and a failed submission costs a release slot. Ads that name Xbox therefore often ask for experience with submission processes, waivers and the back-and-forth with the platform holder — knowledge that sits with engineering, QA and production alike.
The tag usually turns up next to Playstation, because a console title is rarely built for one platform only. Where it stands alone, the work is tied to Microsoft's ecosystem: Game Pass delivery, cross-generation builds, or a port to the current hardware.
