Associate Producer
An Associate Producer keeps a game team's planning, backlog and communication in order, one step below the producer who owns the project.
An Associate Producer supports the production of a game: planning sprints and milestones, keeping the backlog and task tracking accurate, and making sure design, art, engineering and QA know what is expected of them and by when. A large part of the work is coordination - chasing dependencies, raising risks early and writing the status reports that leadership works from.
The role sits below a Game Producer, who owns scope, budget and the project as a whole. It also differs from a Project Manager: the same planning methods apply, but an Associate Producer works inside a game team and is expected to understand its production pipeline, from content creation to release.
Reporting and data checks belong to the work, which is why SQL and Python turn up among the requirements, alongside experience with live games, where releases continue long after launch.
