DevOps Engineer
DevOps engineers keep the machinery behind a game running: build farms, deployments, cloud infrastructure and the monitoring that catches a failure before players do.
The toolkit is cloud platforms, containers, infrastructure as code and CI/CD. What makes it a games job is the shape of the load. A build pipeline moves tens of gigabytes of assets per run, game servers have to scale with a launch or an in-game event, and a live service cannot take a maintenance window at the wrong hour of the wrong day.
Databases, server administration and scripting round out the work, and on-call duty comes with it. Cost is a design constraint as well: an architecture that doubles the cloud bill of a free-to-play title has failed, however elegant it is.
The neighbours divide by what they own. A build engineer owns compile and cook for the game itself. A platform engineer builds the internal tooling other teams work in. A server administrator keeps running machines healthy. A DevOps position spans parts of all three.
Where these positions are: Bucharest (1 position), Dublin (1 position), Hamburg (1 position), London (1 position), Munich (1 position), Nicosia (1 position), Regensburg (1 position)
