Public Relations

Public relations in games is the work with press and media: announcements, previews, interviews and what happens when coverage turns negative.

The routine is built around the release calendar: press releases and assets, preview and review programmes with embargoes, interviews and studio visits, presence at industry events, and the tracking of what gets published.

The harder part is unplanned. A delay, a bad launch, a layoff or a controversy all arrive without warning, and the response in the first hours is what people remember. That work needs internal alignment before it needs a statement.

Relationships are the asset. Journalists who get straight answers and realistic framing will take the next call; those who get spin will not. PR owns the press, community management owns the players, and influencer relations owns the creators, though in smaller teams all three sit with one person.
