PR Manager

PR managers handle how a game reaches press, creators and partners: announcements, embargoes, press materials and the questions that follow.

Public relations in games is built around moments. An announcement, a release date, a major update or a crisis each need a plan: who hears it first, what they get, and when they may publish. The craft is in the preparation, from press kits and review builds to briefing documents that keep a studio's answers consistent across a dozen interviews.

Day to day the role is relationship work. Journalists, content creators and regional partners all have their own audiences and formats, and a pitch that fits one will not fit the next. Coverage is tracked, read and summarised back to the team, including the parts nobody wants to hear.

The neighbours overlap but do not coincide. A community manager speaks with players in the studio's own channels. A marketing manager buys and plans reach. A PR manager works through other people's channels, where the publication decision is never the studio's to make.
