Machine Learning

Machine learning in games is applied engineering: models that run in a live product under real latency, cost and quality constraints.

The work is rarely about training something new from scratch. It is about taking existing models and making them useful: evaluation that says whether the output is actually good, latency and cost that make a feature viable, and the failure modes found before players meet them.

Typical applications are animation and content tooling, player behaviour and matchmaking, moderation, fraud and cheat detection, and increasingly generative features inside the game itself. Python with the usual frameworks is the base, together with containers, cloud services and the pipelines that serve a model reliably.

Data engineering builds the pipelines, data science answers questions with analysis, and machine learning engineering ships the model into a product. Adverts mix the three, so the deliverable named in the text is the honest signal.
