JavaScript
JavaScript is the language of the web layer around games: stores, accounts, companion products, tooling and browser games themselves.
In games, JavaScript rarely appears in the client of a large title, and almost always in everything attached to it. Web shops and account systems, companion sites, live-ops dashboards and internal tools are written in it, usually together with TypeScript and a component framework.
A second field is the browser game itself, where JavaScript runs the whole product on top of a canvas or WebGL library, with the same performance concerns any engine has.
Node.js on the service side means the same language ends up in backends and build tooling. Adverts asking for JavaScript therefore cover very different work, and the honest signal is what sits next to it: TypeScript and CSS point to web products, Node and Docker to services.
