Frontend Developer

Frontend developers in games build the web side: shops, accounts, companion sites, launchers and the dashboards teams work with.

Not everything a game company ships runs in an engine. Web shops, account and login flows, companion apps, community and support pages, internal dashboards and live-ops tooling are ordinary web products, built with JavaScript or TypeScript and a component framework on top of HTML and CSS.

What differs from frontend work elsewhere is the traffic pattern and the backend behind it: a store page has to hold up on release day, and the data usually comes from the same services the game client talks to.

Adverts of this kind come from platform, publishing and services teams rather than from a game team, and they often sit next to backend and DevOps roles in the same group. UI programming inside the game itself is a separate discipline with its own stack.
