Product Manager
Product managers in games own a title's commercial direction: live operations, monetisation, the roadmap and the balance between revenue and player experience.
Product management in games is mostly about a title that is already live. The job is to plan the calendar of events, offers and content updates, to watch what each one does to engagement and revenue, and to adjust. That means working with economy and monetisation design on pricing and progression, with analytics on what the numbers mean, and with the game team on what is realistic to ship.
The second half of the work is the roadmap: deciding which features earn their development time, writing the case for them, and defending the trade-off between short-term revenue and the long-term health of the game.
A product manager is not a game designer, who owns the mechanics themselves, and not a producer, who owns schedule and process. The product manager owns the outcome and usually answers for it in numbers.
