Monetization Specialist

A monetization specialist runs what already exists: offers, prices, the event calendar and the segments that see them, adjusted from what the numbers say each week.

This is the operational side of a game's commercial model. The work means planning the schedule of offers and promotions, setting prices and contents, deciding which player segment sees what, and reading the result against revenue, conversion and retention. Most decisions are small and frequent rather than large and rare.

It requires a working relationship with analytics, because the interesting question is usually whether a change grew revenue or merely moved it forward. Judgement about where optimisation stops matters too: an offer that performs this quarter and costs the goodwill of long-term players is a bad trade that the weekly numbers will not show.

A Monetization Designer defines the systems in the first place. An Economy Designer owns the flow of resources through the game. The specialist operates the model day to day.
