Cloud Imperium Games

Cloud Imperium Games was founded by Chris and Sandi Roberts and develops two connected titles: Star Citizen, a space simulation funded by its players, and Squadron 42, a story-driven single-player game. The studio states that community funding has passed one billion dollars over more than twelve years.

Development is public: builds, patches and plans are shown to backers while the game is still being built, which shapes the work as much as the technology does. The studio is organised across several countries, and its openings cover engine and tools programming, art, design and QA for a project in permanent live development.
