Audio Director
An audio director decides how a game sounds and keeps every sound serving that decision, from the first style reference to the final mix.
The role sets the sonic identity of a project: how weapons read, how music enters and leaves, how much space ambience takes, how loud the game is allowed to be. From there it becomes review and direction across sound design, music and voice, plus the planning that keeps recording sessions and middleware work on schedule.
It is also a technical role. Memory budgets, voice counts, mixing busses and the behaviour of the audio middleware decide what is possible, so a director who cannot discuss implementation ends up asking for things the build cannot deliver.
A Sound Designer creates individual sounds. An Audio Engineer handles recording and signal work. The audio director holds the whole and answers for how the game sounds when a player turns it on.
