Stable Diffusion
Stable Diffusion is an image model that studios use inside the art pipeline, mostly for exploration and variation rather than final assets.
Where it appears in a posting, the job is rarely "type a prompt". It is building something repeatable: a local setup, models and adapters chosen for a project's look, control over composition through depth, pose or edge inputs, and a way to keep the output consistent across hundreds of images. Teams that use it seriously also train or fine-tune on their own material, because a generic model does not know their style.
The hard parts are the ones around the image. Rights and provenance of training data, what may ship and what may only inform, and an honest line between a concept used as reference and an asset delivered to a player.
A posting naming it still expects art judgement. The model produces options; deciding which one serves the game, and repainting what it got wrong, remains the skill being hired for.
