QA Management
QA management is the discipline of running quality assurance as a function: test strategy, coverage, staffing, external partners and what a release is allowed to ship with.
The work starts above individual tests. It means deciding what gets tested and how deeply, where automation pays and where it does not, how internal and outsourced testing divide the load, and how findings are prioritised when there are more of them than time. A bug database is only useful if someone keeps it honest.
It is also a reporting role. Production and leadership need a defensible answer to whether a build is shippable, which requires numbers that mean something rather than a count of open tickets. Working with production, engineering and DevOps on the release process is part of the job.
QA Testing is the hands-on work of finding problems, and Test Automation covers the repeatable part. QA management decides how that effort is aimed.
