Market Analyst
Market analysts study the games market, the competition and the audience, and turn that into material other teams plan with.
The work starts with questions nobody can answer from inside the company: how a genre is developing, what competing titles do with their pricing and live operations, which audience a planned game would actually reach. Answers come from market data, surveys, store and platform figures and systematic competitor tracking.
Most of the output is written rather than built: benchmarks, trend reports and briefings that go to brand, product and studio leadership before a decision is made. Spreadsheet and presentation skills matter more here than programming, though SQL turns up wherever the data sits in a warehouse.
A data analyst looks inward at what players in the company's own games are doing. A market analyst looks outward, and the two often sit in the same department and swap material.
