Localisation Management
Localisation management runs the process around translation: scope and schedule, vendors and freelancers, term bases, LQA rounds and the handover of localised builds.
This is the coordinating half of localisation. Someone has to decide which languages a title ships in, get strings out of the build and back in again, brief and track external partners, keep glossaries and style guides current, and make sure the LQA pass happens while there is still time to fix what it finds. Budgets, rates and delivery dates sit in the same hands.
Game projects make that harder than a document workflow would. Text changes until late, voice recording has to be booked before the script is final, and localised assets go through the same platform submission as the rest of the build, so a late string can hold up a release. Managers in this area spend much of their time on dependencies between production, audio and certification.
Translating and checking the text itself is tagged as Game Localization; this tag is for the people who plan and steer that work.
