IT Specialist

IT specialists in games keep workstations, build machines, networks and licences running for teams that move very large files all day.

A game studio is an unusual IT environment. Artists push multi-gigabyte assets through version control, build machines run for hours, and a broken render node or a full file server stops a whole team rather than one person. The job covers hardware lifecycle, imaging and rollout, accounts and access, and the day-to-day support queue.

Version control and storage are a recurring theme, Perforce in particular, along with backup, licence management and the asset inventory that keeps all of it accountable.

This role is support infrastructure, not game development: it sits next to build and DevOps engineers, who automate the pipeline itself, and it is the reason the rest of the studio can work at all. Studios with several locations add remote support and onboarding to the job, since a new workstation has to be ready on the first day wherever it stands, and the same asset library has to be reachable from every office.
